BHAGAVAD GEETA – 8 : Swami Advayanandaji.

Chinmaya Mission -CIF

Chinmaya Mission Ernakulam successfully organized a 3-day Spiritual Sadhana Camp from 26th to 28th May 2023. The camp, led by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, focused on the profound Shiva Aparadha Kshamapana Stotram, a hymn composed by Sri Adi Sankaracharya. Through this hymn, devotees expressed their remorse to Lord Shiva for being consumed by the illusory world and failing to remember the divine presence throughout. The tranquil CIF campus provided an ideal environment for participants to engage in dedicated Shiva worship and surrender themselves completely to His divine grace.

Slogam - 11: Duryodhana Ignores Drona

1 Ayaneshu cha sarveshu   =  In the several divisions of the army,

2 yathaa bhaagam avasthitaah;   =  stationed in your respective positions,

3 Bheeshmam eva abhirakshantu   =  protect Bhishma with extra alertness –

4 bhavantah sarve eva hi.   =  This goes for all of you, is that clear?

=========================================================================

1-4 Getting no encouraging response from Dronacharya, Duryodhana seems intent

to teach him a lesson by openly declaring to the army to be watchful over Bhishma. Not a

word is said about Drona any more.

Arjuna is Drona’s favourite disciple. Duryodhana may feel Drona’s silence to be due

to a loyalty that is wavering between Arjuna and himself. Pujya Gurudev says, “As a shrewd

dictator, Duryodhana entertained shameless doubts about the loyalty of his own teacher.” A

psychiatrist may well tell us that Duryodhana is merely hiding his own rivalry with Arjuna.

From childhood, Duryodhana has always been outshined by Arjuna. In the art of

archery, which is the relevant point here, Arjuna was far superior to Duryodhana. The flaw

of jealousy in Duryodhana is being transferred to his teacher as disloyalty! Whatever the

reason, this action of Duryodhana seriously dents the morale of the Kaurava army.
