Srimad  Bhagavad-Gita :

Chapter-13. ( Kshetra-kshetrajna-vibhaga-yogam )

Slokam-4. ( Now please hear My brief description of this field of activity and how it is constituted, what its changes are, whence it is produced, who that knower of the field of activities is, and what his influences are.)


tatkshetram  yacca  yadrkca  yadvikari  yatasca  yat,


sa  ca  yo  yat  prabhavasca  tat  samasena  me  srnu.


tat  kshetram  yat  ca  =  what  is  that  kshetram  ( body / field of activities );

yadrk  ca  =  how  it  is  ( as  it  is );

yadvikari  =  what  are  its  emotions ( changes );

yatah  ca  yat  =  from  which,  how  it  happened;

ca  =  not  only  that;

sah  yah  =  who  is  that  kshetrajnan;

yat  prabhavah  ca  =  what  are  his  glories;

tat  samasena  =  those  things,  briefly;

me  srnu  =  hear  from  Me.

The words yatas ca yat indicates that solely by the energy of the Supreme Lord all creation is energized.

sah  yah  =  who  is  that  kshetrajnan;

Slokam-3. ( arjuna!  you should understand that I am also the knower in all bodies, and to understand this body and its owner is called knowledge. This  is My opinion.)




kshetrajnam  capi  mam  viddhi  sarvakshetreshu  bharata,



kshetrakshetrajnayorjnanam  yattat  jnanam  matam  mama.



bhatata!   sarvakshetreshu  api  =  arjuna!  in  all  Kshetram-s  (bodies);

mam  kshetrajnam  viddhi  =  know  I  am  the  Kshetrahnan;

kshetrakshetrajnayo  =  about  Kshetrajnan;

yat  jnanam  tat  jnanam  =  knowledge  is  jnanam;

Discussion -

In  the  previous  slokam-s  after  explaining  about  'Kshetram  and  Kshetrajnan'  here  in  this  slokam,  Lord  declares :

"In  all  Kshetram-s  I  am  the  Kshetrajnan."

Then  if  it  is  one  Kshetrjnan  in  all  kshetram-s,  what  is  the  explanation  for  this  world's  diversity  of  its  people ( Kshetram-s )?

Slokam-2. ( Lord  Sri Krishna  reply  to  Arjuna )


Sri-bhagavan uvaca

idam  sariram  kaunteya  kshetram  iti  abhidhiyate,


etat  yah  vetti  tam prahuh  kshetrajna  iti  tadvidah.


Sri-bhagavan uvaca  =  Lord  replied;

 kaunteya  idam  sariram  =  arjuna!  this  body;

kshetram  iti  abhidhiyate  =  (is)  called  as  Kshetram;

etat  yah  vetti  =  one  who  knows  this;

tam  kshetrajna  iti  =  he  is  Kshetragjan;

tadvidah. prahuh   =  so  say  the  known  person.

"Atma-Sakshatkaram" :   is  an  'Aparokshanuputi'  ( inner  experience ).

It  is  not  a  practical ( external practice ),  but  is  inner  regulation  and  practice.
