Slogam - 40: Karma Yoga:  Results are Immediate & Certain

Na iha abhi-kramanaashah asti = In this there is no loss of any effort,

pratya-vaayah na vidyate; = nor is there any production of contrary results.

svalpam api asya dharmasya = Even a little practice of this knowledge or Yoga

traayate mahatah bhayaat. = becomes the cause of protection from great fear.

Very crucial factors about Karma Yoga are touched upon here. They can be seen only

when compared with actions that are not done in a spirit of Karma Yoga, i.e. desire,

prompted actions or Kamya Karma. There are two distinct types of action:

i) Karma Yoga or Selfless Actions – abbreviated to KY.

ii) Kamya Karma or Desire-Prompted Actions – abbreviated to KK or DPA at times.

In this Section we focus on Karma Yoga (KY). In the next Section we shall look at

Kamya Karma (KK). In the Science of Karma Yoga, this forms a keynote verse. Acharyaji

showed how much superior KY is to KK, and brought out the full impact of this crucial verse.

This slogam is so significant that it is discussed in detail in the block that follows after

the next slogam.
