========================================================================= Thursday, 22 Jun, 2023. 06:15. Chapter 7: Meditation – A Discipline of Self-Integration - 3. ========================================================================= The grossest manifestation of reality may be said to be the five elements in the cosmological process; and until we reach this stage of vital contact with the five elements, we are cut off from reality in a very significant manner. At present, we are out of touch with reality. That explains our misery in life, our sorrows, and our difficulties even in understanding what the world is made of. Scientific analysis, even logical approaches, will not serve any purpose finally when the world of five elements, or the world as such, is considered to be a total alien to us from the way in which we are encountering the world at present. To us, all people around us are aliens – the world is a foreigner, and it is an object of the senses. It is an object in suc...

======================================================================== Wednesday,  21  Jun,  2023. 07:15. Chapter 10: Forms of Sacrifice and Concentration-2. ======================================================================== Bharatham-kandy-Srilanka Knowledge and action are not two different things. Samkhya and Yoga are like the obverse and reverse of the same coin. Therefore, renunciation of any kind is impossible unless the separatist tendency in one's self is overcome to the extent necessary. We always feel that we are separate from the world and from creation as a whole. This tendency to the isolation of oneself from everything outside is the opposite of Yoga, and if Yoga is a gradual movement towards the affiliation of one's self with all things, aiming at union with things finally, if Yoga means that, renunciation of any kind is impossible without this Yoga; because renunciation, at least in the spirit of the Bhagavadgita, does not mean a physical dissociati...

========================================================================= Chapter-1. Arjuna Vishadha yogam  (“Yoga of Arjuna’s Despondency” ) Sri Veda Vyasaji Discourse – 1 (47 Slogas) ========================================================================= Tuesday, 20 Jun, 2023. 06:35. Post - 11. ======================================================================== 1.3 RESPONSE OF THE PANDAVAS (Slogas - 14-25, 12 No.) ======================================================================= SANJAYA NOW TURNS his attention to the Pandavas. In the next 12 slogas we see  the response of the Pandavas to the war cry of the Kauravas.  Sri Veda Vyasaji raises the descriptive quality of these verses by a good few notches.  His descriptions become more charged with poetic fervour and flare. There is no doubting  which army Sri Veda Vyasa has his sympathies for. ======================================================================== Slogas - 14 & 15A : Conches – L...

========================================================================= Monday,  19 Jun,  2023.  07:00. The Role of Lord Sri Krishna in the Mahabharatam -11 : (Spoken on Sri Krishna Janmasthami in 1972) ======================================================================== There was a very powerful man called Bhagadatta. He was a very old man. He used to fight on a very powerful elephant which was said to be a descendent of Airavata of Indra. A very fierce elephant it was; it could simply dash down all the warriors. Hundreds started dying and running away at the very sight of the elephant of Bhagadatta. He was a very old man, past one hundred years, but he was fighting such a fierce battle. Krishna said, “This man Bhagadatta will finish you if you do not meet him. Go and meet him yourself.” Arjuna fought with Bhagadatta with all his might, maimed his elephant and killed it finally, but Bhagadatta would not be overcome. He sent a missile which came like a meteor, a com...

======================================================================= Friday,  16  Jun,  2023. 06:15. Chapter 10: Forms of Sacrifice and Concentration-1. ========================================================================= Chapter 10: Forms of Sacrifice and Concentration -1. There is another important theme expounded in the Fourth Chapter, viz., sacrifice as a practice of Yoga, in which context certain details of the variegated methods of the performance of this sacrifice as Yoga are delineated. The adoration of the gods, the celestials, or the deities of religion is a sacrifice. And any sacrifice is also a Yoga, because sacrifice means a parting of one's own self in some measure in the direction of the achievement of a larger Self, so that in every form of sacrifice a lower form of self is surrendered or sacrificed to a higher form of Self. Whenever the mind fixes its attention on something other than itself, which is supposed to be wider in its comprehension than...
